Monsieur Fontage, the director of "Cet obscur silence" (Hélène Keller), refuses to give advice to Laura as to how to interpret Hélène. As a result, Sidonie does not want her help so as not to be privileged over her rival. Moreover, neither of the two actresses attends the rehearsal of the 2nd Hélène so as not to be influenced in their interpretation. On the evening of the premiere, Sidonie is a great success, which scares Laura who dreads the comparison.
