Laura has isolated herself in a house where she lives as if she were truly deaf, blind and mute. On the day of the audition, she showed incredible audacity in her interpretation, but part of the jury found that Sidonie's playing was more faithful to the spirit of the play. Ursula Lecuyer, Sidonie's mother (who plays the role of Mademoiselle Sullivan, Hélène's tutor in the play) suggests that the two actresses play Hélène in turn.
