Because the humans escaped on his watch, Breetai is relieved of command and replaced with Azonia. The three pilots who observed the Miss Macross pageant - Rico, Konda, and Bron - volunteer to be micronized and infiltrate the SDF-1 to gather more intelligence about the humans.
