Takuma Ashikiri, who was Hayato's senior when he was a student and works as a newspaper reporter, attempts suicide after reading a rare letter. It seems that someone has targeted him while investigating crows and rare things. From the notebook left by Ashikiri, the owl learns that rare items are being artificially created under Nachtigal, and that Sasagogi is at the center of it. Sasagoi has published books in the past, and Shogo has read them.
